A software factory that also lives off its own product
ADN Soft S.A.S. is a Colombian software engineering company. We build systems for our clients and operate ADN Vortex, our white-label satellite tracking platform.
Most software factories only build for third parties. They deliver, invoice and move to the next project. We also sustain our own product in production, with customers billing on top of it every month.
That difference is not anecdotal. Operating ADN Vortex forces us to live with the technical decisions we made years ago: the architecture we chose, the data model we defined and the monitoring we configured. When a client asks us to build something, those scars inform the design.
How we understand the craft
Whoever sells is whoever builds
There is no sales team that promises and a technical team that suffers. Whoever estimates the work is whoever delivers it.
The code belongs to the client
Repository in their name from the first commit, with architecture documentation and recorded decisions. No artificial dependency.
Visible deliveries, not reports
Every two weeks something works. Progress is demonstrated by using it, not by describing it in a status meeting.
Saying no when it is warranted
If we believe a requirement will cost more than it contributes, we say so before quoting it, not after delivering it.
Deliberately boring technology
We choose tools with a large community and available talent. Novelty is a cost paid by whoever maintains the system five years from now.
We operate what we build
We are on call, we receive alerts and we respond to incidents. That changes how a system is designed from day one.
